Thimble Tickle Sea Creature

Written by theunexplained.org

Thimble Tickle, Newfoundland, was the scene of a monstrous fish sighting on November 2, 1878.

Three local fishermen were out in a boat not far off shore when they saw a bulky object which they took to be part of a wreck.

Rowing up to it, they found to their disbelief that it was a huge marine creature, glassy-eyed and frenziedly thrashing its tentacles and tail, for it had been grounded by the ebbing tide.

They snagged the monster with a barbed grapnel and attached the hook to a rope, which they lashed to a tree. The creature struggled for a while; then, as the water continued to recede, it died.

The length of the body, as estimated by the three men, was 20 feet from its beak to the tip of the tail. A tentacle measured 35 feet. Unmindful of scientists or skeptics, the fishermen chopped their catch into dogmeat.
