Ogopogo - Sheri Campbell

Written by theunexplained.org

Five young water skiers, ranging in age from 14 to 21, were cutting a swath across Okanagan Lake when, they said, they had a close-up view of Canada's Ogopogo on July 23, 1968. Sheri Campbell, on skis behind the motorboat, was the first to see the long shape floating lazily on the surface of the water. Startled at the sight of 20 feet of unexpected creature, she let go of the towrope and nervously trod water until her friends in the boat came back to pick her up.

By that time Ogopogo was moving. The youngsters decided to follow the beast for a closer look, and, as they claimed afterward, got within five feet of it-close enough, according to Sheri, to see "blue-green-grey scales" that glittered in the sun.

At that point Ogopogo abruptly submerged and swam off with surprising speed, leaving a wake of V-shaped waves. Although they chased it in their motorboat at 40 mph, the young people fell behind and soon lost sight of the monster. (Janet and Colin Bord, Alien Animals , pp.8-9)
