1983: A Boomerang Shaped UFO in New York

Written by theunexplained.org

UFOs are not always disc or cigar-shaped. Between 1982 and 1984 a series of sightings with boomerang-shaped objects occurred in the Hudson Valley, north of New York City.

One of the best documented cases was investigated by Dr Allen Hynek and Phillip Imbrogno, and happened on February 26th 1983. It involved Monique O'Driscoll and her seventeen year-old daughter Maureen.

The women were driving on a deserted country road at around eight o'clock when Maureen became aware of some lights on a hill. When the lights began to move, she alerted her mother and as the phenomenon passed overhead they realised that the lights were attached to a object. When it hovered over a nearby frozen lake they obtained a more detailed description. Shaped like a boomerang, the object was about two hundred feet across. The lights flashed wildly, enabling Maureen and Monique to see that the object had an intricate structure. It looked to them as if it was made from hundreds of criss-crossed beams of metal.

Monique stood on the edge of the lake and watched as the huge silent object moved off. When it began to come towards them she became frightened, but then it changed direction and disappeared. The investigators traced other witnesses who reported sighting the same, or an identical object that same night.
