In 1981, the landing of a UFO produced actual scientific evidence that something had indeed occurred which could not be attributed to anything other than fact.
Renato Nicolai owned a farm near the village of Trans-en-Provence in Southern France. At around 5pm on January 8th 1981, Renato was working in the yard when he heard a humming or whistling noise.
He glanced up and saw a small oval object descending onto the terraced hillside at the back of the farm. It was just a few feet in diameter, gray in color with small legs. As he approached, the sound increased in volume and the object took off, accelerating skywards.
The gendarmerie (police) were called, who took soil samples from the site. These were examined at the National Space Centre in Toulouse, which has housed a government funded UFO investigation team since 1977. Scientists visited the farm, and Renato was evaluated by a psychologist. The tests made on soil and plant samples produced some remarkable results.
It appeared that some force had compacted the ground, heating it to a temperature between 300 and 600 degrees Centigrade. Within the landing area unusually high levels of chemicals and zinc were found to be present.
Professor Michel Bounais of the National Institute of Agricultural Research found that chlorophyll had been reduced by up to 50 per cent inside the landing area. The research proved that something highly unusual had without question landed on the hillside.
