1975: Travis Walton Abducted by Aliens |

Most abductees are taken away for an hour, or two at the most, yet in 1975, an American logger named Travis Walton claimed he was abducted for several days. Walton was part of a seven-man crew working on a contract in Sitgreaves National Park, Arizona. The crew was working late on November 5th, and as darkness fell they piled into their truck to head for home. As they rounded a bend, the men were confronted by a blue diamond-shaped object hovering over a clearing. Walton leapt out and stood beneath the glowing mass. Suddenly, a beam of light shot downwards, sending the logger hurtling across the clearing. The others panicked and drove away, leaving Walton behind. Foreman Mike Rogers realized they should not have left Walton, and turned the truck around, but by then the logger and the UFO had both gone. The story made international headlines. Walton's disappearance led to the other men being suspected of murder, but a search revealed nothing. Travis Walton turned up five days later with no memory of his ordeal. Walton took two lie detector tests - one which he failed, and another which he passed. Spontaneous recall and hypnosis supplied some images that were later used as a basis for the movie Fire In The Sky, which documented the incident. Walton described being taken to a giant hanger filled with UFOs, and undergoing a physical examination by strange-looking beings. It is a highly contentious case, that despite the best efforts of the skeptics, has not been demonstrated to be a hoax. Comments (0)
