1962: UFOs On Glass

Written by theunexplained.org

1962 was even quieter. The world's attention was focused on the race to the Moon. Some astronauts saw strange flickering snowflakes outside their mercury capsules, but these proved to be natural products of the space environment.

In September, the British UFO Research Association held its first meeting in London with schoolboy Alex Birch as guest of honor. He had just taken some photographs of fuzzy blob-like UFOs over his Sheffield garden and had even been interviewed by the Ministry of Defence.

Ten years later, Alex admitted it was a prank. He had painted the UFOs onto a sheet of glass through which he had photographed the sky. After this fiasco, photographs were given a more cautious investigation by ufologists.
