You probably have heard of stories about ghosts haunting certain office buildings. Some are of the opinion that these are merely concocted to scare the employees from staying too late in the office. Whenever I hear ghost stories like these, I keep an open mind and give it the benefit of the doubt because I have actual experiences of this nature.
I was working at a local brokerage firm at that time, not too long ago. Our office was located in one of the newer office buildings in the country's financial district. I am a morning person so I would rather be in the office early morning than waste my time stuck in traffic, that is, if I decide to travel much later.
Most often than not, I was the first employee to arrive in our office. I have my own key hence getting into our office unit was not a problem. Since I live far from my office, my usual routine would be to go to my cubicle and place my bag in the desk drawer. I would clean my table first then I would get my vanity bag and proceed to the ladies' room to freshen up. After that, I am ready to go to work.
One of our office privileges is flexible time. This means that if I log in at 7:00 am then I can leave by 4:00 pm, rendering the required 8 hours of work. During my stay in that office, I can be there as early as 6:30pm although I still log out by 4:00 pm.
One day, I arrived quite early at the office. After performing my customary task of tidying up my table, I immediately went to the ladies' room. At such an early hour, I did not expect anyone to be there. There I was brushing my hair in front of the mirror where the sinks were located when I heard someone call very faintly in our local dialect "Please help me, little one!"
I was surprised since I thought I was the only one inside the room. There were three cubicles in the ladies' room, two ordinary ones and one for the disabled. At that time, I remembered that there was an old woman who carried newspapers for delivery to each office units in the building. I was thinking that maybe she was the one crying for help and since she was already old, she can only speak at such a soft tone. My only thought at that time was whoever it was, badly needed assistance of some kind.
I opened the first cubicle and found no person inside. I looked at the second one and still no person asking for help. I then concluded that she was at the cubicle reserved for disabled users so I proceeded to open it. I was shocked to find it empty. Then I felt goose bumps all over so without pausing for time to think, I ran out of the ladies' room and into our office.
As I sat down on my chair, I called my mom and related to her what happened. Since she knows that I have had similar experiences in the past, even at home, she told me never to go to the ladies' room by myself. I told my officemates about it and they were afraid, too. One of my male officemates mentioned that most buildings in that business area, even the new ones, have resident ghosts.
It is common that the spirits of laborers/workers, who died there while the structure was still being built, continue to wander. After that incident, the girls in our office go to the restroom in pairs at any given time of the day.
