When my parents got married 40 years ago, they decided to build our house on the land, which my mother has inherited from my grandparents. My brothers and I grew up in the same house for almost 20 years. During that period, many unexplained incidents have happened to us.
One time, we woke up to find a piece of pipe lying near our water pump. We had the notion that someone was probably trying to break into our house but something happened, which prevented the intruder from doing so.
People would often tell us that at night, they would see something similar to a "white lady" floating above our rooftop. We never believed these hearsays since we have not experienced any encounter with the ghost living with us.
One morning, I woke up rather late since it was a weekend. At that time, the people comprising our household were my parents, a spinster aunt on my mother's side, my eldest brother and I.
As I was coming out of the room, which I then shared with my mother, I saw someone crossing the room coming from the door and entering my aunt's bedroom. I was a little cross upon noticing the stranger since I did not expect any visitor coming to our house unannounced that day.
I followed the person to the room of my aunt. When I entered, there was nobody inside. I checked the whole room and it was empty. I went to look for my parents as well as my aunt. I learned that they were all outside in the yard doing some chores. I inquired from them who that person who went inside our house was.
They were all surprised since all of them were outside and I was the only one inside. They asked me what the person looked like. I described him to be the same height as my older brother, wearing a white shirt and shorts.
When I was saying all these, it struck me that I noticed the stranger to being barefooted. He actually did not make any sound as he was walking across the floor since he seemed to be floating along.
My parents were again scared for me since this is the first time that somebody in our family saw a ghost, for there is no other possible explanation for it. I was wide-awake at that time and I could not have been mistaken with what I saw.
When we had our house renovated, I had another mysterious encounter. At night, I usually sleep in my own room that I share with my poodle. Normally, I have a pillow covering my face and a fan turned on during humid weather.
While I was sleeping inside my room one night, I woke up to find myself profusely sweating. It felt so hot but I can hear the fan moving so I knew that it was functioning.
Immediately I thought that someone or something was blocking the fan. I peeked though my pillow and saw my dog sleeping beside me. I was very afraid at that time to look at the fan and simply whispered softly the Lord's Prayer.
After finishing my prayer, the cool air from the fan finally reached me and I fell asleep. The following morning, I related to my parents my experience. My mother was terrified for me and after that night, she slept with me for some time until she was sure that I could be safe again.
Based on the incidents that I have faced, I firmly believe that the ghost living with us are friendly and do not mean any harm since they have not done any serious damage to any one of us.
