Dream House

Written by Marie-Anne24

Me and my boyfriend had been dating for more than three years now. On our recent anniversary, he blurted out the words I've been wanting to hear for so long. He proposed, and of course, I said yes! Everything happened so fast. Last time we we're just looking for a perfect church where we can exchange our vows and now we are in a hunt for our own place. We both want to live our lives away from our parents and be an independent couple.

Since we don't have enough money to buy a new house, we opt to buy a second-hand house instead. We've looked at so many places but there aren't any places that catch my attention or I find attractive. I lost hope in finding our dream house and suggested to my boyfriend that we better look for a condominium so that we can already buy the necessary furniture before we get married. But by some twist of fate, I glanced at this old house and felt that that house is the one. So we pulled over and looked for the caretaker. Luckily, the house was for sale. The previous owner, who happened to be an old lady, died a few months ago because of heart attack. The caretaker warned us that at night there are some things that happen inside the house that nobody can explain. He was talking about paranormal events. I didn't pay much attention to what he said. Maybe because I'm a skeptic or I just don't believe in ghosts for I really haven't seen one.

The wedding was over. Coming from the place where we had our reception, we went straight to our new home. Our lair where we will build our own family. Everything seems perfect. But the perfect newly-wed scenario didn't last that long.

One night, I found myself waking at the wee hours of the morning. I tried to get back to sleep but couldn't. So I went to the kitchen and grabbed some milk to help me snooze. I opened the fridge and took out the milk. While I was pouring some into the glass, I felt a hand touching my back. I thought it was just my husband who looked for me because he woke up without me on his side.

When I turned around, to my surprise, there's nobody in the kitchen aside from me. So I just ignored it and drank the milk as fast as I could. But there it was again, but this is time two hands were on my shoulder. I'm beginning to get shivers and feel cold. I tried to be brave as I could, so I turn around once more and hoping that it is my husband. Again, I was wrong. It's not my husband but an old lady instead! Her hair was long and wavy, so pale like a person whose blood had been drained out, and she doesn't have any eyes! I still took the courage to look at her whole body then I realized that she didn't have any feet. She was floating! That's the time my brain told me that it really was a ghost! I screamed and ran as if the ghost of the old lady chased me. I told my husband what happened. Since then, I never went to the kitchen or any place in that house alone. That was my first encounter with a paranormal being and hoping it would be the last.
